I grew up in London and attended Westminster School before going on to read Theology and Religion at Oxford University. Since graduating, I have worked primarily as a full-time tutor, aside from a two-year period in the start-up world as a finance associate. I now have over 10 years of full-time tutoring experience.

I specialise in teaching children across the prep-school years and in preparing students for the 11+, 13+, Common Entrance, London independent school exams, and GCSE Maths. My work has included one-to-one tuition, residential placements, summer schools, and placements through some of London’s leading tutoring agencies.

Over the years, I have helped students prepare successfully for a wide range of leading independent schools, including Westminster, Eton, St Paul’s, Highgate, Wycombe Abbey, North London Collegiate, Haberdashers’ Boys’ School and South Hampstead High School. I also prepare students for the ISEB Pre-Test, ISEE, and selective school interviews.

What I most enjoy about tutoring is the combination of problem-solving, clarity, and human connection. A large part of the job is working out exactly where a student is getting stuck, helping them build confidence, and then giving them the structure and practice they need to improve steadily and perform well when it matters.

My teaching is structured, targeted, and encouraging. I work hard to identify gaps in understanding quickly, and then build a clear plan around the student’s needs. In Maths, English, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning, I place a strong emphasis on method, accuracy, and learning how to think clearly under pressure, not just on getting through content.

I have a strong understanding of exam technique and of what is required to perform well under timed conditions. I help students develop reliable habits, clear working, and a more organised approach to questions, so that their knowledge translates into stronger marks.

At the same time, I bring a warm and supportive manner to lessons. I want students to feel comfortable, focused, and motivated, and I take real satisfaction in seeing confidence grow as performance improves. My aim is always for students to work hard, feel supported, and enjoy the process of getting better.

I also place a strong emphasis on communication with parents, so that they have a clear sense of what we are working on, where progress is being made, and which areas still need further attention.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy spending my time composing music, playing sports such as tennis and golf and reading novels.
