- (I)GCSE Computer Science
- A Level Computer Science
- (I)GCSE Business Studies
- BTEC Level 3 Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
I first began teaching in 2018 after a career change from Accounting and Finance roles previously. After completing my PGCE in 2019, I have taught in state and independent schools primarily as a Computer Science teacher, but also some Business Studies and related courses. I have experience teaching across key stages 2-5 in 3 different subjects (Computer Science, Business Studies and Design Technology) across numerous different exam boards (AQA, OCR, WJEC, Edexcel, IGCSE). I also have experience with one-to-one tutoring, which I began after working part-time while I completed my MSc in Computing part-time. This was part of an effort to improve my general teaching practice skills and variety of experience, hence I also regularly work in international summer schools based in the UK and abroad.
I am an enthusiastic, hard-working and fully qualified teacher with over 5 years’ experience teaching primarily Computer Science and some Business Studies and Design Technology at KS3, KS4 and KS5. I also have additional experience at KS1/KS2 for general supply cover, holiday exam revision courses and one-to-one private tutoring. I have worked in UK and China-based international summer schools too teaching Business Studies and Computer Science related courses.
I completed my GCSEs and A-Levels in 2003 and 2005 respectively at the Forest School, Winnersh, Berkshire before studying Economics at the University of Essex, where I achieved an upper second (2:1) in 2010. The course also involved a year studying abroad in Florianopolis, Brazil at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). After my first degree, I returned to live in Brazil briefly before returning to the UK to pursue a Finance and Accounting career, which I worked in from 2011 until 2018, before deciding on a career change into teaching.
I completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education with Computing from the University of Roehampton in 2019, and then worked in a variety of state and independent schools. I then achieved a distinction grade MSc in Computing from the University of Roehampton in October 2024 while working part time as a Computer Science teacher at an all-girls independent school in South-West London. On my days off, I will either tutor or work daily supply in local schools.
My approach involves getting to know each individual pupil's needs, strengths and areas for development at first. I then look to create and tailor a set of targeted lessons and resources that develop further as we make progress. Where possible, I like discuss and involve real world examples to enhance learning, among many other practices and techniques I have picked up in my varied teaching experience and university courses taken.
I currently work part-time 3 days a week and do tutoring and supply work alongside this. I like to improve my subject knowledge and teaching practice in dedicated computer science and school leadership courses.
Out of school settings, I enjoy spending time with my partner, running and playing board games with friends.
