Experience
I am currently working with lots of students within west London - and with a wide range of English, French and German needs. Most recently I have tutored a modern languages student in preparation for his Oxford interview in German. I have also prepared a young boy for his prep school entrance exams for English. Having boarded whilst my parents lived abroad when I was younger I also have experience in mentoring those who have to make a transition to boarding and a new school.
Biography
I was educated at Prior Park Prep School in Wiltshire and went on to gain a music scholarship to The Cheltenham Ladies' College in Gloucestershire up until the age of 18 years. During my school years I worked hard in all areas of school life; from academia to music, sport and theatrical pursuits. In my final year I held the position of a Committee Prefect, Head of the College Choir and took to the stage in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
After a gap year of working in Austria and Turkey, as a ski and sailing instructor, I went on to read Joint Honours French and German at Bristol University. I had four fantastic years of study in Bristol, with a year living and studying abroad in Hanover and Aix-en-provence. My studies ranged from literature and philosophy to modern day politics. I was also President of an international business organisation for graduates called AIESEC which allowed me to gain considerable experience in running a business and I managed to attend conferences across Europe.
I left university with a 2:1 BA Hons and a double first in spoken French and German. Since then I have worked in the city, and I am now working as a freelance tutor. I feel strongly about education and enjoy the one-to-one tuition that tutoring offers. I particularly enjoy sharing my passion for French and German, and unearthing a new found interest and stimulation within a tutee.
Personal Approach
A child’s education is a pivotal investment for their future; school can be a difficult environment to adapt to, and the classroom a daunting place for a young person to settle into. Strong characters can often overpower other pupils who are shy, or lacking in confidence, whilst weak marks can leave a child feeling despondent and powerless. The ratio of pupils per teacher often means that a child does not get the attention they need to progress and perform at their optimum level.
Tutoring offers an alternative avenue whereby a child can experience one-to-one tuition to build confidence in both their school and extracurricular life. Each child is an individual with varying strengths and weaknesses, and I believe that tutoring gives a child the specific attention and level of teaching that they deserve. Having recently finished my modern languages degree, and completed over a decade of examinations, I believe I can offer a fresh approach to a child’s learning. I hope to achieve this by drawing upon my own experiences at school, where stimulation and creativity in the classroom were essential to my academic success. Further to this, I wish to use my natural energy and enthusiasm for the subjects I have studied to inspire confidence and intellectual interest in a child, so that they will enjoy a successful and bright future throughout their academic life.

She has been so kind and extremely helpful in keeping Chloe on task and up to her classmates. She misses school tremendously, but Charlotte’s friendly demeanour and encouragement have done wonders to keep her spirits up and mind off her injury.''
