Biography
Lewis received a first class degree in Modern History at Christ Church, Oxford, in 2008. Originally hailing from Scotland, Lewis moved to London in 2009. Having now re-engineered himself as a lawyer, he is currently reading for the Bar.
Aside from strong academic and didactic preoccupations with history, politics and society, current affairs, philosophy and law, Lewis's chief interests are literature, opera, theatre and the other fine arts.
Personal Approach
When it comes to one-one-one tuition, there is no such thing as a general approach. Flexibility and an ability to cater to the particular requirements, needs and abilities of a particular student is all that matters. Teaching is about building relationships, and Lewis has the personal and social skills to be able to do this with ease. Although of course he remains focused on assisting children with their coursework and teaching them within the constraints of their courses and curricula, he feels that it is important to inspire students in a more general way, to place a particular piece of learning or subject area within a context of wider established goals. That means encouraging students to go beyond the syllabus, to think about subjects in new ways, to reflect on the value of their subjects and the benefits of studying them, and to encourage a more interdisciplinary approach. His approach is inspiring, encouraging, empowering and perhaps above all, confidence-building. He is a real mentor and friend, who really cares how his tutees get on.
