Personal Approach
I find it essential to build strong and independent relationships with both parent and pupil as quickly as possible (on residential jobs spare time spent with the pupil outside of the tuition room can be as valuable as that spent within it), to be patient and creative with a tutee no matter how difficult an idea may seem, to have thoroughly prepared each lesson in advance and to remain flexible in overall strategy in order to meet different challenges as they emerge. The overall emphasis must always be on building a pupil's personal understanding, confidence and engagement with the demands of a syllabus.
