Jack Brennan
I predominantly teach: GCSE Chemistry, GCSE Maths, GCSE Physics, AS/A2 Maths, AS/A2 Physics
Experience
I have worked extensively in private tuition since 2005, covering maths and physics at A-level, maths IB, maths and science GCSEs, IGCSEs, and Common Entrance. Necessarily, I have experience of all of the major exam board syllabuses and, in particular, of the varying approaches between exam boards.
In the academic years 06-07 and 08-09 I taught Science and Maths GCSE at a small independent school.
Recent Keystone Work:
AS/A2 Maths, AS/A2 Physics: A2 Maths and Physics (Started: April 2011)
GCSE Physics, AS/A2 Physics: Physics AS/A2 tuition for academic year 2011/12 (Started: August 2011)
AS/A2 Physics: A level Physics, especially AstroPhysics (Started: November 2011)

Biography
I graduated in Physics from UCL in 2006, and from my post-graduate study the following year. I started tutoring during the last year of my BSc and found it an interesting experience. Since then I have worked in a few small private schools and extensively as a home tutor.
Concurrently, I have worked on various music and art projects
Personal Approach
Coming from a physics background, I am always keen to get students to enjoy the mathematical sciences because they understand them, and work at them because they enjoy them.
Although the approach with any student is highly responsive to their particular needs, there are certain constants. Every advancement in these subjects assumes prior knowledge. Gaps in this can be crippling and are the first thing to sort out.
In tandem with this ''bottom-up'' aspect, I really hope to develop students' engagement with the interconnectedness of the sciences. It may not seem particularly exciting to solve some particular quadratic equation (though I think it is!), but when you see how the solutions of that equation could predict the existence of anti-matter, or the outbreak of an epidemic, it becomes more concrete. With more advanced students, this broad way of thinking is crucial to develop for further study.
What I do when I am not tutoring
Currently, I run a grassroots craft club and am working on some interdisciplinary science-art projects, among other things a book on science for artists. I also maintain a carpentry workshop where I build string instruments.

''I've already emailed Jack and informed him that my totally unscientific daughter managed A grades in sciences due to his help! Thanks also to Keystone Tutors, whose website stood out from all the others!
Jess gained a mixture of A*s and As, the A*s in her chosen A Level subjects, so all is good.
Thank you for your interest!''
