Experience
My tutoring experience started in my undergrad years, when I was asked to tutor final year students in maths. I have tutored GCSE maths very sucessfully and have been doing private tutoring at my residence since last year. My tutoring in Economics really started from my 2nd year in A levels and through university until now.
Biography
Having Graduated with a First Class degree in Economics, I went on to studying for my Masters at UCL. During my dissertation, I managed to get a job offer from UBS Investment Bank and I worked in areas of Risk Management and in turn Trading Equities. During this period, I tutored many family and friends for their exams and word spread through mouth as they performed sucessfully. I have now left the banking industry and am making a proactive step towards teaching and preparing for my PhD.
Personal Approach
My personal approach relies very much on finding out what the student finds difficult and their personal gremlins. I try to focus my teaching on remedying these and revisiting what I have taught time and time again so that eventually the student is comfortable and overcomes what they find difficult.
I was a very successful student and this was largely down to how I learnt to understand things, which sometimes was very different to the teacher. Many years on I still remember those techniques and I hope to pass them on to my students. My teaching is very relevannt to the current day, as the industry I have worked in allows me to draw on life examples and apply this to the student's understanding. This I feel is also a great way to understand very abstract topics and their relevance in the real world.
