Biography
I went to Westminster Under School, then Eton College and I am now studying a MSci in Mathematics with Economics at University College London. At Westminster I developed a strong interest in playing music. I studied viola and piano at the Royal College of Music during my weekends. I continued this interest at Eton as a Music Scholar there. I left Eton with five As at A level, in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics, Biology and Art, and then took a Gap Year. After working full-time as a Risk Analyst at Morgan Stanley for ten months, I travelled with four other friends from Shanghai to London by train for the remaining five months of my year out. Our route took us through China, Mongolia, Russia and the vast majority of Europe. Now living in London, with both my feet on the ground!
Personal Approach
When referring to the Sciences, in particular Mathematics, you have a set of 'tools' at your disposal which are to be used to solve the problem at hand. I believe that it is essential that the student understands firstly, how, and secondly, when, a 'tool' should be used. My aim would be to provide an effective 'toolbox' needed for one to tackle the wide range of possible questions that can be asked from within the syllabus. I tend to take a systematic approach: firstly, identifying where the issue lies; secondly, using an array of techniques to get one to fully understand the topic; and finally embedding it in the mind using a variety of problems.
