I'm a Maths and Common Entrance specialist, teaching all levels from 11+ to A Level. Having begun Tutoring over five years ago, I have a wealth of experience tackling the syllabi and challenges of these subjects.
I have considerable experience preparing students for English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning tests for the 11+, 13+, pre-tests and entrance exams to public schools in London and the South East.
I have assisted many students with GCSE/iGCSE preparation in both Mathematics and Economics. I also have considerable experience Tutoring A Level Maths and Further Maths. Tuition at these levels combines the rigour of the subject with careful and efficient exam technique.
I have experience of the above via online tuition as well as face to face.
Having grown up in the glistening hills of nearly-never-sunny Devon, I soon made my way to Exeter for my A Levels and then Bristol for my undergraduate. After achieving a first class bachelor of Mathematical Science, I moved to London.
Throughout university and during my first five years in London, private tuition had been a fantastic, challenging and diverse addition to general studies and work. During this time I had worked in prestigious financial firms in the City of London and passed all of my rigorous industry qualifications first time.
In January of 2015 I decided to shift my focus to private tuition, full time. The personal and varied nature of private tuition is richly rewarding and its opportunities are uniquely fulfilling.
From 10 year-olds to 18 year-olds; over five years as a Tutor has taught me that the most powerful learning tools are interest and achievement.
The lessons which engage and interest are the lessons that stay vivid in a students memory. Whether this be through debate, visualisation or games; I adore the challenge of teasing out this spark from every one of my students.
Combining engaging lessons with a sense of achievement and visible progress creates a sense of pride, confidence and a powerful learning environment.
What I do when I am not tutoring
As well as tutoring, I also run a small company creating healthy, raw puds called Neigh. You might spot us in our horsebox-kitchen at events and pretty summer festivals.
When I'm not working I'll often be found in the park with Schubert, my very friendly, white fluffy dog. Schubert even comes to lessons sometimes!
