I studied for both my undergraduate and postgraduate degree at the University of London. University was such a stimulating experience for me, and made me realise how important good study skills were. Naturally, I'm keen to impart this skill on to my students.
Spending three years teaching in both the public and private sector has given me a clear understanding of how students learn. Rather than provide all the answers, I'm keen to probe students through questioning. I've had considerable success with my students because I have been able to help them become independent learners.
As a private tutor I enjoy the process of getting to know a student, learning about their motivations and identifying their strengths and weaknesses.
I have tutored a range of students, from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5. This demonstrates that I am a flexible and adaptable tutor, with the determination to persevere with all my students. Parents have been impressed with the fun and engaging activities that I have embedded into lessons and the way I have been able to raise the confidence of students.
I am able identify a range of strategies for my students that would be difficult to implement in a classroom environment. I deliver a stable tutoring programme and continuously monitor the progress of my students.
What I do when I am not tutoring
I enjoy reading in my spare time. Travel writing is a particular favourite genre of mine, as it introduces me to strange and far away places. I also enjoy riding a bike and learning new languages. Currently, I’m trying to improve my Arabic and have visited Jordan to complete an intensive language course.
