I have tutored a range of subjects, including English, Latin, Ancient Greek and Classical Civilisation, to students aged 3 to 46.
I have worked with pupils at schools including Eton, Harrow, St Paul's, Colet Court, South Hampstead, Badminton and Wellington College, as well as several international schools.
I teach English, Latin and Ancient Greek to degree level, and have primarily worked with children preparing for English and Latin GCSE and A Level.
I also teach all core subjects from KS1 to 3; I have worked at St Paul's Primary School in Primrose Hill, at St Paul's school in Whitechapel, and with primary pupils preparing for Wetherby and Queen’s Gate.
I attended North London Collegiate School and took A Levels in English, Latin and Classical Greek.
I graduated with a First in Classics from Oxford University, where I also served as Welfare Officer for my college.
As well as tutoring, I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist, trained at the University of Oxford. This means that I have extensive experience working in children's mental health and counselling; I believe that my knowledge of psychology brings an extra level of understanding and efficacy to my teaching approach.
I endeavour to balance a sense of excitement with a firm practical grasp of the tenets at the heart of deeper understanding. This of course means getting to know what works for each individual and adapting my techniques to suit their need. My background in counselling means that I am attuned to what each child or young person needs in terms of the relationship we build and the work we do.
Having been fortunate enough to have been inspired by many excellent and dedicated teachers, I try my best to emulate their clarity, perseverance and approachability.
What I do when I am not tutoring
I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, counselling adults and children. I enjoy going to the theatre, walking my dog on Hampstead Heath, snooping around the British Museum, and reading books about Ancient Egypt.
