Course Description
Over the course we will look at areas of the 13+ syllabus that students tend to find more challenging, together with addressing specific aspects that might be raised by the students themselves during the sessions. We will work on consolidating knowledge and understanding as well as on building exam technique skills. The lessons will include a variety of activities such as multiple choice quizzes, questions requiring the application of knowledge and data interpretation; the students will have the opportunity to work independently as well as participate to group discussions.
The course is aimed at students who are studying Science at 13+ level and wish to revise certain key topics of the syllabus and work on exam skills.
Day 1:
Hour 1: Respiration and Gaseous Exchange, Cells and systems in the body, Relationships in Ecosystem
Hour 2: Reproduction in Animals and Plants + Selection of past paper questions (Biology)
Day 2:
Hour 1: Separation techniques, Acids and Bases
Hour 2: Chemical Reactions + Selection of past paper questions (Chemistry)
Day 3:
Hour 1: Energy, Introduction to Forces
Hour 2: Pressure and Turning Forces, Electricity and Electromagnets + Selection of past paper questions (Physics)
Day 4:
Hour 1: Experimental Science, Graphs and Practicing multiple choice questions in all 3 sciences
Hour 2: Structured 13+ and common entrance questions
Detailed feedback: An end of course report is sent on completion detailing the student’s achievements and areas for further work.
Easter Holidays Tutor:
This course will be led by Keerti. After completing her undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, Keerti went on to qualify as a teacher through the Teach First Programme. She has since completed multiple postgraduate degrees in Psychology and Education and has billed over 3,000 hours through Keystone alone.
May Half Term tutor:
Anthony graduated with a Physics degree from Imperial College, London. He tutors across the board from 11+ through to A Level and has taught over 5,200 hours with Keystone as well as having considerable tutoring experience prior to joining our team of full-time tutors in 2017.
- Maximum Class Size: We teach in groups of no more than 10 with the average number in our classes being 5
