Course Description
The course is for students who are about to enter Year 2 and who are looking for an introduction to the higher-level skills necessary for 7+. The online course covers the core 7+ areas needed to be successful at this stage, including exam technique and familiarising students with exam-style questions.
Each 1 hour session will cover 20 minutes of Maths, 20 minutes of English, 15 minutes of reasoning and will include a 5 minute break.
Monday:
Maths: Mental maths / Skill (measures - unit equivalences, ordering measures)
English Reading: Inference + detective skills
Reasoning question to end the lesson
Tuesday:
Maths: Mental maths / Skill (fractions - equivalences, simplifying, simple fractions of amounts worded problems)
English Writing: Sentence openers
Reasoning question to end the lesson
Wednesday:
Maths: Mental maths / Skill (time - converting between digital and analogue, time word problems using numberline)
English Reading: Vocabulary questions
Reasoning question to end the lesson
Thursday:
Maths: Mental maths / Skill (handling data - interpreting data from bar chart, line graph, Venn diagram or Carroll diagram)
English Writing: Similes
Reasoning question to end the lesson
Friday:
Maths: Mental maths / Skill (problem solving questions - multi-step problems using more than one method)
English Reading: Passage + questions
Reasoning question to end the lesson
Detailed feedback:
An end of course report is sent on completion detailing the student’s achievements and areas for further work.

- Maximum Class Size: We teach in groups of no more than 10 with the average number in our classes being 5
