Day 1: Character:
Comprehension: How to find details about character in text and form answers using evidence
Writing: How to write while including thoughts and feelings of your main character
Day 2: Action
Comprehension: How to look at what is happening, and work out what has happened before and may happen afterwards.
Creative writing: How to write with a mix of action and description
Day 3: Tools
Comprehension: Overview of the big five writer’s tools, and how to talk about their effect
Writing: How to include the big fiver writer’s tools in writing
Day 4: Setting
Comprehension: How to interpret and understand setting and descriptive detail
Writing: How to write stories that include a high level of descriptive detail
Day 5: Summary of CATS, and assessment tasks that remind and test students on all the areas covered by the course. (October Half Term Course only)
An end of course report is sent on completion detailing the student’s achievements and areas for further work.
