Expedition Planning, Preparation and Fundraising Workshops
Tutor: Tim Moss
Subject: Expedition Planning
Maximum Attendees: 15
Course Outline:
One-off workshops with follow-up support for students preparing for, or aspiring to, an expedition.
Overview
Dynamic, flexible workshops for groups of students who are planning an expedition. Whether they are joining an organised overseas trip, putting together their DofE Gold expedition or want to do something but don't know what or how to start.
Background
Tim has helped over 100 expeditions across all seven continents. He often gives talks in schools and gets asked for help on fundraising for expeditions, how to get started and what sort of things people can do. You can find out more about Tim's involvement in expeditions on his website: http://thenextchallenge.org/
Content
- Expedition fundraising
- Fitness and training
- Facilitated brainstorming on ideas for destinations, purpose and scope
- Equipment
- Practical advice for planning and executing an expedition
- Useful resources (e.g. websites, grant giving bodies, expedition organisations)
Notes
This is a very flexible workshop as different groups would want very different things (e.g. fundraising advice for a specific expedition or just general brainstorming about what they could do). I'd also like to offer follow-up support via email.
