Treasure Hunts in Art: Danger, Delight and Discovery!
A multi-stop gallery tour to Central London's top museums to learn the art of looking at art.
Reading the stories written in the brushstrokes can be a hard work- especially in a gallery stuffed full of 'masterpieces' by artists with remarkably similar-sounding names who are long-dead. I challenge children to not look at the wall information, to fling off apprehensions about boring history, and to delve into the sphere where imagination rules and a treasure-trove of fascinating facts and fictions await discovery. I will give a general framework of historical change... however, I will also seek to prove that the same themes have dominated art for centuries and it isn't always useful to attach art to a timeline! Worksheets and activities will be provided.
