Music Support Courses for Scholarship and Grade Examinations
Many children are blessed with the gift of musical prowess, and are able to enhance their chances of entry into senior schools by taking music scholarships. These are challenging and demanding tests, and experience suggests that while expert tuition is invariably offered by the schools that prepare for them, a fresh pair of eyes and ears can often do much to enhance that preparation. Even a few days’ external support can give an edge to a student’s overall performance.
All musical support courses are led by Paul Cheater, who is a musician of some standing, being a fully qualified teacher of music and recitalist. He is principally a keyboard player, having studied the organ with Dr John Webster at University College, Oxford, and piano with Vernon Mann, also at Oxford, and he has performed in venues in the United Kingdom, Europe and North America. He recently designed the music curriculum for the prize-winning Afghanistan National Institute of Music, in Kabul, and this course has recently received international accreditation.
Musical preparation courses are best suited to a child’s home environment, and for that reason Paul is always happy to travel to any location. The terms of engagement for any course are based on a tuition fee of £1200 per week, and the other terms and conditions are as for academic tuition.
All music preparation courses are run in association with the National College of Music, London, although preparation for the grade examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, Trinity College of Music and Guildhall is treated with the same priority as preparation for any of the examinations of the National College of Music.
