Biography
I went to Tonbridge School and took English, Latin and Greek for A-Level. I went on to read Philosophy and Ancient Greek at UCL. I have since completed the Law conversion course.
I have enjoyed sport from a young age and currently captain my law school football side. I have travelled throughout Europe but have also spent time in China and Tibet. I was part of an expedition to Everest Base Camp and led the team for part of the journey.
Aside from tutoring, I also work for a photographer.
Personal Approach
My approach depends very much on the individual. Lessons should be an ongoing dialogue between the student and myself in which I can continually assess their progress and find the best way to proceed.
Latin and Greek can be daunting but I try to show students that once the language is grasped there is a fascinating world waiting to be discovered. I tailor translation exercises to a student’s interests whilst steadily building a sound knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. For the more advanced, I work thoroughly through any weaknesses and help students translate with confidence.
In regard of Philosophy and English, I encourage students to develop their own ideas and always question the arguments of others. I show them how to present their thoughts clearly, write concisely and structure their essays logically.
Through working as a generalist tutor, I have also enjoyed teaching Maths. It has been great to see the delight on students' faces when they grasp a concept and are able to solve problems that they struggled with in the classroom.

Thank you so much for all your help. Without it I wound not have got through my exams. You made Greek bearable and your essay writing help has made me a confident writer. I missed so much school I never thought it would be possible!
Patrick has done a fabulous job with Oliver. From the moment Patrick started with Oliver, he has understood Oliver perfectly. Patrick quickly learned not only how to focus Oliver and get him to work diligently, but also how to inspire him. Oliver looks forward to his sessions with Patrick, which is a very difficult thing to accomplish when we all know that revising can be dull and draining.
I've watched lots of various teachers with all my children -- music teachers, tutors etc -- and I haven't seen anyone who has so quickly adapted their style and approach to child's method of learning as Patrick. His results with Oliver have been outstanding, which has really boosted Oliver's confidence as he heads into the final stretch before Common Entrance.
We feel very lucky that we found Patrick and we thank you and Keystone for that.
