I have taught French and Spanish to a large range from young children of 5/6 years to University and A-Level and to adults. I have tutored as preparation for exams, as well as introducing a language to a student and developing more general, spoken language skills amongst those with basic French or Spanish.
I have also helped students prepare for IB and American SATS.
Biography
I attended Rainey Endowed Grammar School in Northern Ireland, where I obtained 3 A-grade A-Levels in English, French and Spanish. I was Head Girl and an avid player of numerous sports, including hockey, tennis and horse-riding.
I then studied English Literature and Modern Languages at New College, Oxford. After graduating with a 2.1, I pursued a longstanding passion for acting. I trained with the National Youth Theatre and Drama Studio London, and I now work as a professional actress in theatre and film.
I have also been working as a tutor since 2003, and love it.
Personal Approach
I believe in adapting my style of teaching to the individual. I use a variety of approaches and I endeavour to create an atmosphere in which learning is demystified, made enjoyable and relevant. I encourage my students to take control of their own learning and to take pleasure in their inevitable progression. I use a lot of memory techniques. In my opinion, the combination of pleasure (in a subject) and hard work facilitates academic success. I put a lot of emphasis on consolidating the basics, for example, grammar, essay structuring and planning, exam technique etc.
