Biography
I was educated at Clifton College, Durham University and the School of Oriental and African Studies. Despite having initially struggled with dyslexia and low academic confidence at school, I achieved three As at A Level in Economics, History and Physics.
At Durham I achieved a 2:1 in Economics and Politics. I have recently completed a MSc in the political economy of conflict with distinction at the School of Oriental and African Studies. I am currently interning at a think-tank in preparation for going to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Personal Approach
My approach is to create a relaxed but productive learning environment. I am apt at using different learning methods to suit pupils and making seemingly difficult problems simple and easy to understand. I take a bottom up approach - building simple ideas into complex ones. I like to talk through problems in a two way dialogue with my pupils making sure that they have a strong input in the learning process.
I have a strong understanding of how to tackle exams and what is required of candidates. Through personal experience, I am good at creating realistic and goal orientated revision timetables to ensure that my students use their time productively.
What I do when I am not tutoring
Interning at a think-tank.

Nick W:
Alex has tutored my daughter (aged 15) on a number of occasions and both she and I have been extremely impressed with every aspect of the way in which he has handled these sessions. He is friendly, efficient, patient and thorough; indeed in every respect the lessons he did with my daughter were a great success and I would warmly recommend him.
Eva B:
Alex Jack has tutored my son in Economics AS level. Anthony had previously failed his exam, but with Alex' help, he managed to pass with a C grade. We were very pleased with this result. Alex has really helped Anthony, he has been patient and very thorough at explaining. Previously, Anthony really didn't ''get'' Economics, but with Alex' help the clouds parted and he was able to comprehend the basic concepts.
I would highly recommend Alex as a tutor, he was always reliable and on time and he was able to really help Anthony.
Harleigh K on her son's recent exam success: 'Alex gave him many, many helpful tactics to use in the exam and his explanations were extremely clear and easy to follow.'
