Experience
I taught English in an international language school during my year abroad in Russia. As a native speaker, I took the oral classes where the students were given a topic from a magazine cutting and we would then discuss the issues raised as a group. I found that teaching was extremely rewarding and enjoyed seeing progress among my students.
For Keystone Tutors, I have been teaching English part-time at a prep school. I have also been assisting a boy in Year 6 with his English preparation for Common Entrance in two years' time.
Biography
I am a keen sportsman who enjoys academic challenges and has a passion for travelling.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Queen Elizabeth’s Boys’ School in Barnet and took every opportunity the school offered. My hard work and dedication was rewarded by strong academic results, being appointed Deputy School Captain and 1st XV rugby captain.
At university, I continued playing rugby and was appointed captain of my college side. I was also heavily involved in the university’s Russian Society and, as the social secretary, helped to organise fund raising events such as our successful vodka tasting evenings.
I have a passion for travelling and have recently been on trips to Australia, Fiji, Thailand and Bali among other countries. I enjoy sharing experiences with like-minded people. In the future I hope to travel to China, having started a beginners Mandarin course in the final year of my degree.
Personal Approach
I strongly believe that learning should be enjoyable. People learn more effectively when they take a take a genuine interest in the work. It is the job of the tutor to spark this enthusiasm in their students’ by finding an area of the course that attracts the student and then build on this interest. Primarily, lessons should be engaging and fun.
