Biography
I went to Harrow School, followed by Oxford. After graduating with a 2:1 in History, I began to tutor while I wrote a tedious and largely plotless novel. I became far more interested in learning than I did in writing, and set up Russell Group Tutors in 2006. In the process, I taught History part-time at Fulham Prep School and Francis Holland. I now run a website on learning (www.dystalk.com) and Keystone Tutors full time.
Personal Approach
I try to bring a variety of approaches to my teaching: particularly the use of Memory techniques (based on Ed Cooke's methods) to commit ''boring'' pieces of information to memory. Being a classroom teacher myself, I can see why students (and it mostly is the students) have sought out one-on-one tuition. Though there are benefits of class learning, it's astounding how much I can achieve in 45 minutes one-on-one vs. 45 minutes in class.
