Biography
I have recently finished a masters degree in Politics and Communication at LSE, before this I studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford. I live in north-west London, and have been tutoring for three years ago. I achieved one of the top ten marks in the country at Politics A-level and one of the top five marks in the country at English GCSE, and I'm therefore familiar with what's required of students for examination success.
Personal Approach
My teaching style is based on my experience of the Oxford tutorial system, a method world-renowned for its effectiveness in achieving the very best results. A central tenet of this system is that the best way to learn is through discussion and dialogue between teacher and student. I integrate this into the structure of lessons, as well as using various exercises designed to help students gain a rounded understanding of their subject, whilst at the same time producing exactly the kind of answers that examiners are looking for.
Testimonials
''Matthew is doing a great job. His lessons are stimulating, structured and tailored to meet my sons needs. I can see the difference already in the way my son tackles his English homework. He feels more confident and has a widening range of knowledge and skills to draw on. His school must also be impressed as he has just been predicted an A* in his English GCSE! I would highly recommend Matthew as a first rate tutor.''
Lindsay
''I honestly only have positive things to say. The lessons are always stimulating and most importantly all the information is well explained. I principally went to Matt for help with writing essays for my AS exams and they have improved a huge amount since our lessons began. He has a wide range of knowledge on the subject, on modern and past politics, which is excellent as it allows for detailed answers for any questions I may have. He's also a really approachable guy and provides an atmosphere during the lessons in which questions and debates are welcomed which makes for stimulating work.''
