Biography
I was educated at Kensington Prep and St. Paul's Girls School. After getting straight As at GCSE (the A* didn't exist when I took them!) and A' Level and finishing my schooldays as Head Girl, I went on to read Classics at Magdalen College, Oxford, changing to Theology after Mods. My first career was in the Prison Service. Next I became a barrister, then worked in a children's home and finally started a career as a teacher. More recently, I have been dipping my toe into journalism and writing, which combine well with my tutoring.
Personal Approach
My aim is to help my students grow in confidence, so that they feel ready and able to face challenges ahead. In order to do this, I like to work closely with them, identifying their areas of weakness and helping them improve in these areas. I always enjoy getting to know my students and also enjoy talking to parents about their children. As a teacher it is wonderful to be able to focus on students individually and very rewarding to see what a difference it can make.
What I do when I am not tutoring
I'm discovered a penchant for oral history and interviewing. When I was in Africa I interviewed 26 missionaries and their children. I'm currently trying to find a publisher for those interviews and am also interviewing stallholders and buyers at Portobello Market. When I'm not working, I love walking, going to museums (particularly the V and A) and watching films. I'm also passionate about musical theatre.
