Experience
I have been tutoring for almost 9 years. I started at Oxford University through the Jacari Home Teaching scheme. After graduation, I taught mostly young professionals English as a second language in Prague and Warsaw. I soon moved to New York where I was teaching mostly teenagers and university students Maths, English, Spanish, Physics, Biology, and Philosophy. For the past three years (apart from half a year in Australia where I continued tutoring), I have been living in Poland. During this time, I taught Polish students English as a second language and tutored in I.B. subjects such as Maths, Theory of Knowledge, Physics, English, Spanish, Biology, and Philosophy. I have also tutored in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Polish as a second language, but only for non-advanced students.
Outside of tutoring, I spent a summer in the United States working at an overnight camp in New Hampshire watching over 12-15 year old children (http://www.kenwood-evergreen.com/site). In addition to that, I spent a summer working with 10-year old children with emotional and social problems (sensory integration, ADHD, children with abuse history, etc.). That was a day camp called Daybreak (http://cambridgecamping.org/camps_programs/)

Biography
I grew up and lived in a suburb of Boston, MA, USA until I was 14 years old. I then moved to Warsaw, Poland where I attended the American School of Warsaw. For the past 5 years since graduation from Oxford where I studied Maths and Philosophy, I have been working as an independent filmmaker and taking courses at the Polish National Film School. I have shot in Scotland, Poland, France, and Australia. I am also interested in photography. In high school, I played football, tennis, and basketball but these days I usually only manage the occasional football game on weekends and running during the week. I play ultimate Frisbee whenever I can. And I am desperately trying to finish my NY Times crosswords book, but I cannot seem to get past the Thursday puzzles. I finished the GDL Law Conversion course in June 2011, and am currently training to be a barrister.
Personal Approach
I let the students do as much of the work whenever possible. I like to be more of a guide than instructor. I always offer encouragement, but never talk down to the students. I like to help the students form good habits and see those habits give them confidence. I try to relate even the most basic material to a concrete situations the student might be interested in, or which will stick out in their memory. Depending on the student, I will also relate topics in the lesson to what is going on in my life to make the meetings more friendly and to show that I too deal with the topics they are learning.
What I do when I am not tutoring
Studying the GDL at the College of Law - Moorgate
